DOUG HICKOK
“There is a difference between life and art, Savannah,” I said as we moved into Charleston Harbor.
“You’re wrong,” she said. “You’ve always been wrong about that.”
- Pat Conroy, The Prince of Tides
Doug has been showing the artistry of everyday life with his photography since 1981. Originally from Cincinnati, he has lived in Charleston for over 30 years. He finds the streets of the city’s historic districts as fascinating as the beautiful and varied landscapes of the Lowcountry. He has a gift for creating superb compositions with attention to detail and quality of light.
His clients include the Charleston Area Visitor’s Bureau, Spoleto Festival USA, the Historic Charleston Foundation, Charleston Magazine, the Town of Mount Pleasant, the Charleston Chamber of Commerce and the Charleston Regional Development Alliance
Doug’s interests are varied… history, literature, art and the natural environment. Living in Iceland for a year during a tour in the USAF peaked his interest in birdwatching. He travels every time he has the opportunity, and thus far has visited 10 countries and nearly 40 states across the USA.
